Where to find the report
Open Campaigns, click the menu next to a campaign and choose Engagement Report. The tabs across the top show the campaign overview, the ad groups inside it and the locations it reached.
The core columns
- Date. The day the figures belong to.
- Spent. What that day cost you.
- Impressions. How many times your ad was shown.
- Ad Views. Paid views your campaign delivered, as reported by Google Ads. This is what you are charged for, and it never includes organic views.
- View Rate. Ad Views divided by Impressions. It tells you how often people who saw your ad chose to watch it.
- CPV. Cost per view. What one Ad View cost you on average that day.
For campaigns with the Website Clicks goal you also get Website Clicks and CPC.
Campaign engagement columns
These come from Google Ads and count actions it can attribute to your ad.
- Campaign Subscribers. People who subscribed after seeing your ad.
- Campaign Likes. Likes that came from your ad.
- Playlist Adds. Times your video was added to a playlist because of your ad.
- Earned Views. Free views counted when someone watches another video on your channel after seeing your ad. If they watch five more of your videos, that is five earned views at no extra cost.
Earned actions are counted for a window after the ad view, so they keep arriving for a few days after the click.
Cost columns
- Cost Per Subscriber. Spent divided by Campaign Subscribers.
- Cost Per Engagement. Average cost of one engagement from the campaign.
Why some columns are empty
Campaign subscribers, campaign likes, playlist adds, earned views and the two cost columns come from your channel through Google Ads. They only fill in when:
- your channel is linked to Google Ads, and
- Disable interest-based ads is unticked in YouTube Studio, under Settings, Channel, Advanced settings.
See Link your channel to Google Ads and My campaign shows zero subscribers.
Why the report does not match YouTube Studio
The report counts what your ad did. YouTube Studio counts everything on your channel from every source, and it updates on its own schedule. See My numbers do not match YouTube, or they went down.
What to do next
Open the Ad Groups tab to see which audiences are working and which are costing you the most per subscriber.
